A scrap metal company called police when three men brought in large stainless steel sheets to their facility.

Troopers were investigating the theft of the sheets from Lockport Custom Laser, Inc. in Lockport last Friday when they received a call from Metalico Scrap Metal in Niagara Falls that three men were attempting to unload the stainless steel sheets at their facility.

Officers immediately went to the scrapyard and took the men into custody.

State Police determined Stephen Zimmerman, 24, of Lockport stole the sheets, valued at $4,500, and offered to pay the two other men to help him unload the sheets.

Zimmerman was arrested and charged with third degree grand larceny. He was being held in Niagara County Jail on $2,500 bail.
