The Erie County SPCA is caring for more than 50 new cats after they raided a home and animal rescue facility in West Seneca Monday.
The SPCA says they decided to investigate Bob The Cat Animal Rescue on Creekview Drive after receiving several complaints about neglected and sickly cats.
SPCA workers say some of the animals are very sick; more than half of the cats have feline leukemia, and many have upper respiratory infections. Some of the cats also have ringworm, gum disease and conjunctivitis.
Animal cruelty charges are pending against the owner, Donna Canorro. The SPCA says they have had to intervene for at least 500 animals living in Canorro's home since 2004.
The rescued cats are currently being housed at the SPCA in the Town of Tonawanda.
