Police in Jamestown have taken into custody the man they believe killed two people on Barrows Street.
Investigators say Allen Witruke, 51, was captured in nearby Olean after fleeing Jamestown, which prompted a nationwide search.
"Officers were on the lookout for the vehicle and specifically a plate number and they were able to identify it," said Jamestown Police Chief Harry Snellings.
Snellings said the bodies were discovered after a call came in alerting the department to suspicious activity around 8 a.m.
"They located two victims both are deceased and victims of a homicide," Snellings told reporters.
Police have not released the names of the victims and are not saying if Witruke knew them.
Investigators say Witruke is in custody and will be officially charged on Wednesday morning.
Neighbors who live on the street told 7 Eyewitness News they are relieved the suspect is in custody, but are still upset over the situation.
"It's sad obviously," said Ben Humphreys. "It's something you hear about but don't expect to be so close to you."
