Taxi, city cameras make teen's robbery short-lived

Posted

Fleeing in a taxi after using a shotgun to rob a Dollar General store led to the quick arrest of a 16-year-old boy, Buffalo police say.

The teen is accused of entering the West Ferry Avenue store around 1:3pm Tuesday and demanding cash. But after getting the money, the suspect got into a taxi.

Using city surveillance cameras, police were able to watch as the conspicuous taxi made its way to Wyoming Avenue, where the 16-year-old boy was taken into custody.

The teen is charged with multiple felonies, including criminal use of a firearm, robbery, criminal possession of a weapon, forgery, and criminal mischief. He’s also charged with misdemeanor criminal possession of stolen property and false personation.

Buffalo Police say they recovered the money the teen stole.
