Deputies have charged an Amherst teenager with DWI under Leandra's Law and for driving more than 100 mph on the thruway Tuesday night.
Police say 19-year-old Macayl Kunkle was pulled over in the Town of Hamburg and asked to perform a field sobriety test. Police tell us Kunkle's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.
Kunkle had a 15-year-old passenger in the vehicle. Police took her to the North Collins Substation, where a parent picked her up.
Kunkle is charged with felony aggravated DWI (Leandra's Law), reckless driving and reckless endangerment. Deputies took Kunkle to the Erie County Holding Center on a $750 bail. He was later released.
