US Attorney: Woman cheated Social Security system

A Tonawanda woman is accused of collecting Social Security benefits for her son, even hough prosecutors say he was not living with her.

Tracy Anderson, 43, was indicted on December 17 on charges of knowingly and willfully making a false document and unlawfully receiving supplemental security income, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1001(a)(3) and 641. She was arrested and arraigned on Monday.

Anderson allegedly filed false documents to receive federal benefits on behalf of her son, even though prosecutors say he was not living with her at the time.

If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
