Police say after a drunk driver smashed into another vehicle on Southwestern Boulevard in Orchard Park, he drove home – but the victim followed.
Just after midnight, officers were called to Southwestern on reports of a hit-and-run. Police say Donald Weaver, 26, ran the red light on Michael Road and smashed into another vehicle. Though his car suffered significant damage, including a flat tire, police say Weaver paused a moment before fleeing down Southwestern.
But the victim pursued Weaver, who drove home to Countryside Lane. Officers placed Weaver under arrest for DWI, leaving the scene of an accident and other vehicle and traffic charges.
A breath test conducted at the police department reportedly found Weaver had a BAC of .28 percent, more than three times the legal limit. He was additionally charged with aggravated DWI.
He is due back in court at a later date.
