A teenager arrested for a Grand Island larceny was arrested again three hours after being released for the first crime.

Deputies responded to a car break-in on Regency Drive Thursday morning around 4:15 a.m.. Deputies detained a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old male after finding them with stolen items.

The teens were both charged with two counts of petit larceny, two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, conspiracy and unlawful possession of personal ID.

Deputies say they tried to release the 16-year-old to the custody of his parents but they refused and he was taken to the Erie County Holding Center. The 15-year-old was released to his father with appearance tickets.

About three hours after his release, deputies say the 15-year-old was found entering vehicles on Laurie Lane.

The suspect was detained again and charged with additional counts of petit larceny.

Due to his age, the 15-year-old had to be released back into the custody of his father.
