Police make arrest following Virgin Mary statue smashing at St. John Kanty Church

Buffalo Police say they have made an arrest in connection to a vandalized Virgin Mary statue at St. John Kanty Church.

Police say 18-year-old Kalil Colbert destroyed the statue with a baseball bat and left a note inside the statue.

The nearly four-foot statue of the Virgin Mary had been sitting in a garden at the front pf the church on Swinburne Street for the past four years.

Colbert has been charged with aggravated harassment and a hate crime.
