BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) — Thousands of Western New Yorkers will express their democratic rights and head to the polls Tuesday, November 5th.

Do you know your polling place? If not, you can find it by visiting the voter lookup website.

Before you walk into your polling place, you can see who is on your ballot by clicking this link.

If you don't think your vote matters, think again. There are a couple of key races this year in Western New York that will affect you.

Just this past February, Niagara Falls Mayor Paul Dyster (Democrat) announced that he will not seek re-election. The mayor says he wants to focus his attention on other priorities including his family.

Robert Restaino (Democrat), Glenn Choolokian (Republican), Seth Piccirillo and Jeffrey Elder are all running against each other-- hoping to become the next mayor of the Cataract City.

A hot topic in the race includes the garbage user fee. Homeowners in Niagara Falls will pay roughly $218 in garbage fees next year.

The Erie County Executive race is another election to watch. Lynne Dixon (Republican) is running against incumbent Mark Poloncarz (Democrat). Both candidates have come under fire for using doctored photos in attack ads.
