Pool stores swimming with customers as temperatures rise

Posted

Looking for that summer warmth? Look no further. Forecasters said temperatures will hit 80 midweek.  It's a forecast pool owners like Angelo Monaco dream of. It's summertime you have to enjoy it as much as you can. We're in Buffalo,” he said.

That’s why he went to Pool Mart on Transit Road in Depew Tuesday to get the necessary supplies to open his swimming pool for the season. And he isn't alone. “With the weather being predicted to be 80 this week, we're seeing a big uptick in people opening their pools and foot traffic in general,” said Pool Mart General Manager Ryan Dunn.

Dunn recommends opening your pool now versus waiting until the traditional time frame of Memorial Day weekend. “We'd rather have them open it now so that when Memorial Day rolls around, they can swim in it instead of open it.”

The most common products you need to get your pool up and running are algaecide and pool shock. “We see that business increase as the weather warms up.”

“Hopefully, it will be hot and dry but I don't know, we'll see,” Monaco said.
