BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — The historic papal trip to Iraq is now over.
Pope Francis held an open air mass in a sports stadium in northern Iraq Sunday.
Earlier in the day he called for unity and forgiveness for Muslim extremists, as he visited several churches destroyed by ISIS.
This is the pope's first trip out of Italy since the pandemic began.
It's also the first time a pope has ever paid a visit to Iraq.
