Federal prosecutors charged a Gowanda man with producing and distributing child pornography Wednesday.
They said a criminal complaint indicated Shane Aurand, 20, shared sexually explicit pictures of a child with an undercover agent on the messaging application Kik sometime in early March.
According to the complaint, the pictures were of a seven-year-old, and they were taken by Aurand while he babysat the child. The complaint also alleged Aurand offered to send the undercover agent pictures of other children if he received child pornography in return.
If found guilty, Aurand could face up to 30 years in prison.
Aurand made an initial court appearance Wednesday. He's being held ahead of a detention hearing on Thursday.
