Buffalo Police say they have the best homicide solve rate in 2018 than the department has had in the last five years.
7 Eyewitness News obtained the homicide numbers for the department since 2013 and found Buffalo Police are solving more homicides in 2018.
Between 2013 and 2016, Buffalo Police solved between 33% and 43% of all homicides. There was a large decrease in solved cases in 2017, with only 17% solved.
In 2018, the department has solved almost half.
Captain Jeff Rinaldo says this could be attributed to a number of things, but overall the department is finding more people with information about a crime are coming forward.
