Ringleader of credit card theft ring sentenced

Posted

The leader of an alleged credit card theft ring was sentenced for charges stemming from multiple car break-ins and credit card thefts in 2014.

Christopher McCullen pleaded guilty in October of 2016 to 'Scheming to defraud' and seven counts of grand larceny. He was sentenced to three to six years.

According to the Erie County District Attorney's office, McCullen led a group of people to break into and steal from cars parked at gyms, restaurants and parks. With credit cards stolen from those cars, McCullen and others bought untraceable gift cards and sold them at a lesser value.
