The state is preparing for a busy travel weekend by suspending construction-related lane closures.
Governor Andrew Cuomo has announced the suspension of most lane closures for road and bridge construction projects on New York State highways during the Labor Day weekend to minimize traffic congestion and travel delays.
The suspension will run from 6 a.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. on Tuesday.
"New York is committed to helping ensure travelers get where they need to go as quickly and with as little hassle as possible during this busy holiday weekend," Governor Cuomo said. "I wish all New Yorkers a Happy Labor Day and urge travelers to drive safely and responsibly."
Some work may continue for emergency repairs.
