This year's 178th Erie County Fair ended with the second-largest attendance in the fair's history.
Throughout the 12-day fair, 1,193,279 people visited the fair. The number is a 21% increase from the 2016 attendance. The fair's all-time high record attendance was in 2014, when 1,220,101 people went to the fair.
The second-highest attendance comes just a month after an EF-2 tornado hit the fairgrounds, and major cleanup, including construction on the grandstand, had to be completed.
