The University at Buffalo is increasing security on campus Thursday night for a visit from former Vice President Joe Biden.

Biden is scheduled to speak Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Alumni Arena on the north campus. It's part of the University's Distinguished Speakers Series and 6,500 people are expected to attend.

Due to the recent targeting of political figures, authorities say they will be taking extra precautions to keep people safe.

Everyone attending must pass through metal detectors and all coats and large bags will be searched. People attending are asked to arrive early due to the security measures.
