A registered sex offender recently re-elected as fire chief of a volunteer department in a Pennsylvania town near Western New York has resigned.
According to the Corry Journal newspaper, Roger Gilbert Jr. quit the Spartansburg department Sunday. Spartansburg is about 35 miles southwest of Jamestown.
Gilbert, 43, was convicted in 2001 of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, according to Pennsylvania's Megan's Law database. The Corry Journal reports the victim was a child, but the database does not divulge this information, per Pennsylvania law.
