Tears roll down 15-year-old Mikese'a Smith's face as she talks about her best friend, 15-year-old Shaunice Gamblin, who was shot to death Saturday night.

Police say around 8p.m., Gamblin was walking with a friend on LaSalle Ave when a gunman opened fire, killing her and injuring her friend.

"I can't believe it but I really don't have any choice," said Smith. "I can't get her back."

Police say the drive-by may be connected to another shooting that happened a few hours later, near Canisius College.

"She was an innocent bystander. Shaunice was a good person. She didn't have trouble with anyone," Smith said.

Gamblin was in 10th grade at Burgard High School. Smith says she had high hopes of attending college.

"It could have been anyone," said Smith. "I just never thought it would be my best friend."

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the Gamblin family deal with funeral costs.
