Sidewalk shaming to remove snow

Erich Krueger likes to go on walks on Maple Road in Amherst during his lunch break at work.

"I can easily get six to seven thousand steps in" Krueger said.

It is during those walks that Krueger noticed just how little some businesses plow their sidewalks. So he decided to shame them into removing snow.

"If you own a home you need to have your sidewalk cleaned. Same goes for the businesses."

Krueger started the "Shaming Amherst Commercial Properties" Facebook page. Krueger and other Amherst neighbors submit photo's to the page in hopes that the businesses will see them and decide to shovel.

"(We're) shaming them, shaming the properties to go out there and do the right thing."

Krueger tags the businesses who have yet to shovel in the posts in order to get their attention. He is hoping the shaming can lead to progress before an injury is caused by the lack of plowing.
