A 22-year-old woman was seriously injured Friday after skiing into a tree at Holiday Valley.

Casey McAbee of Blasdell apparently lost control and skied off the slope, hitting a tree. The resort says its missing person protocol was put into place at 8:30 p.m., with all lift operators, ski patrol, security, safety patrol, parking attendants and all on-snow personnel notified by radio.

An official says McAbee was located around a half hour later and was treated at the site by ski patrol before being air lifted by Mercy Flight to ECMC, where she remains in the ICU.

A GoFundMe page has already raised more than $10,000 for the young mother and college student. The page says she had bleeding on her brain, broke two vertebrae as well as her pelvis, and suffered a severe laceration on her head.

The page says the bleeding on her brain has stopped and she has been responsive, with some finger and toe movement.

The person who set up the page is asking for help with medical and household bills.
