A backhoe brought a utility pole down Wednesday and may have resulted in a possible electrocution, killing a man.

State Police say the backhoe hit an overhead utility line, causing the pole to break and come down. The line fell on a 26-year-old Derek Roeske who was standing nearby and helping the backhoe operator, according to troopers.

Officials say Amity ambulance was at the scene and took Roeske to Jones Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation is ongoing.
