The State Attorney General is launching an inquiry into cryptocurrency exchanges.
Companies like Bitcoin.
The idea is to improve transparency and accountability of major cryptocurrency trading platforms to protect virtual currency investors.
The office of Eric Schneiderman has sent letters to 13 virtual currency exchanges, requesting disclosures on their operations, use of bots, conflicts of interest and other key issues.
Schneiderman said in a statement released today, "With cryptocurrency on the rise, consumers in New York and across the country have a right to transparency and accountability when they invest their money. Yet too often, consumers don't have the basic facts they need to assess the fairness, integrity, and security of these trading platforms."
