Strong storms early Wednesday morning brought much needed rain to Western New York, but it also left thousands without power overnight.

Power outages were reported in Buffalo, Clarence, Elma, and Lancaster. Viewers told us that power was also out overnight in Hamburg.
Much of the power has been restored -- but crews say that power in Clarence Center could be off until Noon Wednesday.
There were no early reports of significant storm damage, although lightning struck a power pole in South Buffalo near Abbott and Downing streets.

At its peak, about 5,000 people were without power.
