More than 2,500 local students took a field trip to the KeyBank Center Thursday morning to learn about math and science in sports.
Students at the NHL NHLPA Furture Goals program had the chance to hear from a panel made up of former NHL players Kevyn Adams and Martin Biron, broadcaster Brian Duff, Equipment Manager Dave Williams and Director of Game Presentation Kelsey Schneider.
The panel spoke about how hockey teaches fundamental science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM) concepts. The students also had the opportunity to watch the Sabres practice from the arena bowl.
The program started in 2014 and consists of more than 6,500 students from 96 schools in Western New York. It encourages students to become college-ready, career-ready and life-ready.
