A stun gun was used on a student at Lake Shore High School in the Town of Evans on Tuesday, according to Superintendent James Przepasniak.
Police officials say the student was out of control and attempted to punch a member of the school staff. The incident prompted officials to call in the school's resource officer and Evans Police.
Przepasniak says the student exited the building.
Police say the school resource officer, who is a member of the Evans Police Department, was the individual who used the stun gun.
Officials say the student was in crisis and is currently getting the help they need. The student was taken to ECMC for a mental evaluation.
According to police, the student has been referred to family court for resisting arrest, harassment and obstruction.
No threats were made to students and no one was injured.
