Nearly one hundred people attended a town hall meeting Thursday regarding conduct at the Erie County Holding Center.
The event, hosted by the Buffalo AntiRacism Coalition, addressed the recent case of India Cummings. Cummings was taken into custody at the Erie County Holding Center in February. After episodes of erratic behavior, she was released from custody and admitted into Buffalo General Hospital, where examinations showed that she was brain dead.
Also discussed was the concern over suicide rates amongst inmates, and the conditions of the Holding Center.
The event was held at the Buffalo and Erie Central Public Library.
