A 16-year-old boy is facing multiple charges after Jamestown Police say he stole a vehicle and then led officers on a short-lived chase.

Shortly before noon on Wednesday, officers attempted to stop a Ford Escape without license plates at West Seventh Street near Cherry Street. The driver took off but eventually stopped at Lafayette Street and West Seventh Street and fled on foot.

Police caught up to the 16-year-old boy, and learned he had stolen the Ford Escape and is wanted on outstanding warrants.

The teen was charged with third degree criminal possession of stolen property, obstruction of governmental administration, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle as well as several traffic violations.
