As if you weren't already tired enough of telephone scams, there's another one to keep an eye out for.

Erie County Sheriff's Department says the new scammers threaten businesses who don't pay their National Grid invoice.

Officials say the scammers threaten a technician is on his or her way to disconnect the service if the company does not pay the bill immediately. To stop this, the scammers insist the company purchase pre-paid money or credit cards and call a 1-800 number and follow the prompts to pay the bill.

The Sheriff's Office suggests businesses ignore the scammer and calling their service provider at the number on the official bill to check the status of their account.
