Do you have a word or phrase that rubs you the wrong way?
A yearly poll ranks one word at the top of everyone's list, and the word is "whatever". The shoulder-shrugging word has been in the number one spot for nine years according to the Marist College poll. Researchers also say "whatever" may be more annoying to older Americans than younger ones.
Coming in a close second place is the phrase "fake news" followed by "no offense, but". People polled also said "literally" and "you know what I mean?" annoyed them most when used in conversation.
