The Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station confirms that the first of eight KC-135s will arrive next week.
A spokesperson for the reserve station says the planes, used to refuel other aircraft midair, will arrive at different times throughout the year. The first plane will fly in on Wednesday of next week.
The base plans on holding a ceremony for the arrival of the first KC-135 on Thursday.
The Air Force is in the process of deploying the new KC-46A tanker, which is why it needs new locations to house the KC-135s.
In a news conference last February, Senator Schumer said, housing the KC-135s in the Falls will give them a mission that lasts 20 years, as they're slowly upgrading to the KC-46As.
