BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — Senior Investigator Bill Heine at the SPCA Serving Erie County got a call last week from a concerned citizen. The caller said that there was a cat wrapped in a curtain in the window of an abandoned home.

When Bill arrived on the scene he saw a black kitten perched on the window sill, inside the house, in a situation that could have been catastrophic. Bill says "If the cat would have fallen off it could have hung itself."

Bill enlisted the Buffalo Police and Fire Departments to get into the house and help extricate the kitten. She's been named Buffalo Belle by the SPCA. Gina Lattuca, Chief Communications Officer at the SPCA says the name was perfect, adding "it sort of took all of Buffalo to save her life. The SPCA is in the business of rescuing animals but then you add Buffalo Police, Buffalo Fire and a very aware community member-it literally took a village to save this cat's life."

Buffalo Belle will be available for adoption at the Pet Smart on Niagara Falls Blvd. in Amherst. You can contactthe SPCA through their website;
