He's a retired cop and a poet. Actually Joey Giambra is one of those guys who seems to have done it all. He's an actor, playwright and musician, Joey was also a Buffalo Police Officer for twenty years. He says "I retired thirty-five years ago, it was a different job then."

Joey's current project is a piece called Bread & Onions. It is his poetic narrative about growing up on Buffalo's West Side. It focuses on the lives of Sicilian immigrants.

For this production he's gathered actors and professional musicians including Julliard graduate and Buffalo born talent Jay Louis Dref. Jay's vocals are woven throughout the story. Joey says "the kid is fantastic!"

Bread & Onions is one night only, Saturday August 25th at 7:30 at the Kavinoky Theatre. 320 Porter Avenue oin the D'Youville College Campus. You can make reservations by emailing at: bookingjaylouisdref@gmail.com  Tickets are $20 and can be picked up at the door.
