You'd expect to see an art show at a place called The Carnegie Art Center. Chances are that you have never seen an art show like this. You'll see no Picassos or Rembrandts here but have you heard of Wally Wood? According to Reed Dewey "Wally Wood was one of the best known comic book artists"
The building is packed with cool comics, original comic book art and other memorabilia collected by the well known and much loved obstetrician, Dr. Maurice Dewey who passed away last year. According to Reed "our Dad loved the funnies".
Pam Dewey says her husband thought comic books were a great way for kids to learn to read. She's surprised about how big the collection became and adds "he did it because he liked it but over the years it became very valuable."
"The World of Comic Book Art-A Visual Exploration" will be featured at the Carnegie Art Center, 240 Goundry St., North Tonawanda, NY 14217 through early August. Check their website for more information
