EDEN, NY (WKBW-TV) — Bill Zittel knows his way around a corn field. He is the fourth generation to work the family farm.

Bill says that the wet, chilly Spring was a challenge but there will be plenty of great tasting corn for the Eden Corn Festival this year. "All of us farmers are making sure that Eden Corn Festival will have corn and it will be good" Bill says.

The family works seventy acres. Bill says that is equal to about seventy football fields. Each stalk yields two ears of corn but it's only the top one that is good enough to pick. Bill points out "the bottom one usually has no flavor."

The corn is picked by hand. Bill's corn can be found in Tops and Wegman's and at the Eden Corn Festival. Bill says the best way to test it for flavor is raw without salt or butter. He says it's messy but sweet.
