Go with The Flo and soak your stress away

The Flo is a full sensory deprivation float center. It opened in 2015 and it's located in downtown Buffalo.

"It's a really great way to process the traumatic thought that would cause anxiety, depression," Joe Fambo, co-owner of The Flo, said.

Fambo says The Flo is based in holistic wellness. He says it takes about a half an hour for floaters to stop moving and for their spines to expand about an inch.

That's because your muscles become so relaxed that they're able to decompress. There is no pressure being pushed on your body so your muscles don't need to fight back.

The floatation tank is light and sound free. The water is heated at 95 degrees and 1300 pounds of Epsom salt is dissolved into 14 inches of water.

As soon as you get into the tank your legs float to the top of the water.

Fambo says your mind can slip into theta brain wave pattern, which is a deep relaxation state when we dream or meditate.

"I find that a lot more people are looking for heather ways to take care of themselves," Fambo said.

After each floater, there is a cleaning cycle to cleanse the water for the next person.

Benefits include:

  • Improved sleep patterns
  • Rapid elimination of fatigue
  • Creates mental clarity
  • Deeper meditation
  • Boosts immune function
  • Faster recovery from injuries

For a 60 minute session the cost is $55 and for a 90 minute float the cost is $70.

Fambo recommends first time floaters take the 90 minute session.
