HAMBURG, NY (WKBW-TV — Jay Ruof liked the Hamburg Palace Theatre so much he bought it in 2008. What's not to like. The theatre is ninety-three years old and looks nearly as good as it did the day it opened.
They feature first run flicks and low prices. The theatre still has the original tile in the lobby and Jay says he thinks the grand drape may be original as well.
The theatre has an opportunity to receive a two hundred twenty-five thousand in grant money from the State if Jay can raise seventy-five thousand. That money will be used to get new heating and air conditioning, a new roof and accessible rest rooms.
Jay says they have been having a number of fund-raisers at the theatre and members of the community have stepped in to help out. This Sunday at 3pm they will premiere a documentary about old movie theatres called 'Going Attractions: The Definitive Story of The Movie Palace'.
You can get more information at the Hamburg Palace Theatre website.
