High tech competition brings brain bending fun

Erie County Community College was taken over by Tech Wars. A fun and friendly high tech competition between high schools students from across Western New York.

In the cafeteria, the 2nd Annual Brain Challenge which consisted of students working in teams to create Rube Goldberg type contraptions capable of turning on a light bulb. Flynn Harper and his team from Hamburg Middle School say their intricate looking apparatus is only working about fifty percent of the time. 

In the gym students and their homemade, remote-control bots are duking it out in out in a competition that will determine who built the best bot.

Cherie Messore, Executive Director of Western New York STEM and one of the sponsors of this event says "it's great to see so many girls engaging in technology too. Traditionally a male dominated field." And adds that STEM programs like this prepare students for the jobs of the future.
