BUFFALO, NY (WKBW-TV) — It seems like everyone on Buffalo's East Side knows Ronnie & Lottie Pikuzinski. The couple celebrates their sixty-second wedding anniversary in July. Lottie says their secret is "we cater to each other. It isn't just one person's job, both help out."
Fifty years ago the couple opened the R & L Lounge on Mills Street off Broadway. It's become not just another tavern, but a cozy home away from home for customers and for the Pikuzinskis. "This is where all the memories are." Lottie says.
When you see the delightful duo, it's hard to believe that she turned him down for a date the first time because she had a boyfriend. Luckily Lottie got rid of the boyfriend and Ronnie took a chance.
They got married, had a family and opened the bar, but it wasn't always smooth sailing. "You have to fall down a few times and pick yourself up, it makes you stronger" according to Lottie.
Sixty-two years of marriage and fifty years of running the R & L Lounge, and the iconic couple says they would do it all over again.
