BUFFALO, NY (WKBW-TV} — Shannon Davis was taking pictures of grain elevators "like everyone else" until a few years ago when she was in town for her father's funeral. She says "I drove past a house and saw a family on the porch and just felt connected to them- stopped, asked them if I could take their picture, that was the beginning of this project."
Shannon's one-woman show at the Buffalo History Museum called "I Got Somethin' to Show You" celebrates the people of the Old First Ward. You'll still see some grain elevators in the background, but mostly you'll notice the people.
An Adjunct professor at the Savannah College of Art & Design, Shannon says photography is her outlet. This project helped her "process the sense of loss" with the passing of her father. Her photos were previously shown in London and Atlanta.
The show opens officially June 19th and will run through September 15th in the Community Gallery at the Buffalo History Museum. You can get more info at the museum website.
