HAMBURG, N.Y. (WKBW) — Jimmy Butera knows a thing or two about pizza making. He learned the craft from his grandfather Salvatore who had one of the first pizza stands at the Erie County Fair. Jimmy says "I grew up in the restaurant business."
He had the popular Jimmy's Pizza Co. for a decade and then in 2005 opened Butera's on Main Street in Hamburg. It's a family friendly place that features craft beer and craft pizza. There are fourteen craft beers on tap and another thirty in bottles and cans.
The centerpiece of the restaurant is an authentic brick oven that Jimmy says is a tribute to his grandfather adding "I imported it from Italy, to kind of give homage to where he started and then bring it to the next level."
The huge menu features burgers, pasta, wraps, wings and much more including a half dozen craft pizzas. A special note in the menu says that you can "build your own."
Plans for the future include a micro brewery on the premise. Jimmy says, "nothing too big."
You can find Butera's on Facebook and at their website.
