It's a place that is filled with singing and dancing. Dina Slawson is the reason for that. She opened the Academy of Theatre Arts in Williamsville sixteen years ago. What began as a one room studio has grown into a ten thousand square foot performing arts center complete with a dance studio, rehearsal hall and a state of the art theatre that seats one hundred and ninety five.
They welcome young people from kindergarten through high school, servicing six hundred students a year. Dina says that many of her students have gone on to careers in the theatre and many have chosen other paths, "I have just as many, if not more success stories of kids who have used theatre as a platform for other careers."
They perform nine musicals a year and the shows are open to the public. You can get more information about the Academy of Theatre Artsat their website.
