BUFFALO, NY (WKBW-TV) — The 44th Season of Shakespeare in Delaware Park is ready to storm onto stage this week with The Tempest. The play is directed by the man who started this annual outdoor theatre event, Saul Elkin.
David Marciniak leads the cast as the magical Prospero. He says he is drawn back to this stage every Summer, adding "it's a passion".
The comic relief is provided by Norm Sham, another Shakespeare in Delaware Park regular. He plays the part of Stephano. "It's a venue like no other in town. How often do you get to play for two thousand people?"
The Tempest opens Thursday and runs every night but Mondays through July 14th, with a new start time of 7:15 PM. As always the show is free, but the actors do pass the hat at intermission.
