Like many thirteen year-olds Ian Torres plays football and baseball, likes computers and adds "I just recently got my black belt in tae kwon do." Besides all of that Ian also sings in operas. This weekend he'll be on stage at Westminster Presbyterian Church performing in "Amahl and the Night Visitors."
Heading up a big opera might make the average person a little nervous, but not Ian-he says "I practice a lot beforehand so it's not really that hard."
This is the third year Westminster Presbyterian is offering up this classic opera and Ian's third time on stage as "Amahl". He says "I perform for myself, the people who want to see the show and my family."
This may be Ian's last chance to perform this part because as he says "my voice may be changing." The opera runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 724 Delaware Avenue, Buffalo. You can find more infoat their website.
