Afternoon drive could be messy on Wednesday. Timeline of snow, cold in WNY

Looking to plan your drive home Wednesday evening? Here's what you need to know:

- Lake Effect Band of Snow will create near white-out conditions and slick road conditions over the metro area and portions of the Northtowns during the afternoon and early evening hours.

- The band will shift south through the Southtowns late Wednesday afternoon and evening. Expect near-whiteout conditions as well as slick roads. 

- Most areas that are in the most intense bands of snow will see snow accumulations between 4-8", with some localized higher amounts in some places in the Southtowns and atop the hills in Southern Erie and Wyoming Counties. 

- Lake snow band will move into the Southern Tier during the evening hours.
