The New York State Department of Labor is hosting a job fair to help Tonawanda Coke employees find new jobs following the plant's closure.

The Department of Labor Rapid Response team will host a targeted career fair on Thursday, October 18 at the United Steel Workers Union Hall (810 Sheridan Drive) in Tonawanda. The fair starts at 10:30 a.m. and will feature a variety of local businesses. The team will also host two informational sessions for Tonawanda Coke employees at the same location on that day, at 9 a.m. and at 1 p.m.

Additional career fairs are planned for the next few weeks, and the Rapid Response team says it has already helped 23 employees.

Tonawanda Coke shut down its last ovens on Tuesday. It filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy earlier this week.
