The Town of Tonawanda is looking to turn the intersection of Parker Boulevard and Decatur Road into a roundabout. But, people who live nearby were asked if they want to see the intersection changed, most said no.
In August, the town put cones up resembling a traffic circle for three days. Thursday night, the Town released its findings for the Complete Streets project for the stretch of Parker Boulevard between Sheridan and Eggert, including the August report.
The town says their plan, including the roundabout, would make the street safer for cars, bikes and pedestrians.
After releasing their plan last August, 33% said they supported the plan, 61% of people surveyed said they were opposed.
But it's not just the roundabout that has people who live on Parker concerned.
“When you back out, you cannot see these bicycles going by. And if they’re the ones that put their heads down and do not look, they're going to be hit,” said Pamela Sweeney about potential bike lanes.
The town will learn at the end of the month if it will receive a grant that would make the project possible.
