In the wake of his indictment, two of Western New York's largest healthcare providers have dropped Dr. Eugene Gosy from their networks.

Dr. Gosy had upwards of 10,000 patients. Any of them who have Independent Health or Blue Cross Blue Shield will no longer be covered.

The move by Independent Health does not effect the other physicians in Dr. Gosy's office.

The decision by Blue Cross Blue Shield applies to his entire office. The company issued this statement Monday afternoon.

Gosy is facing a 114 count indictment of over-prescribing opioids, and is currently not allowed to write any prescriptions for controlled substances.

Douglas Pearce is a board certified family nurse practitioner who worked at gosy and associates.

Pearce who is not facing charges and has not been accused of any wrong doing says at this point he simply wants to help his patients, but his hands are tied.

“To my knowledge we are supposed to open on the 16 th I’m not sure if the Independent Health and Blue Cross Blue Shield situation has put a dent in that,” Pearce told 7 Eyewitness News.
