The town of Orchard Park is putting a halt on any new permits for commercial or expanding residential lots for the next year.
A moratorium is now in place after the Orchard Park town board unanimously voted to halt new lot creation within one mile of New Era Field.
Town Supervisor Patrick Keem says he's noticed an increase of lots being created to serve as tailgate lots or satellite parking.
Keem says Orchard Park Police will patrol the town and anyone caught violating the moratorium could face a fine of $100-$500 per day. He says the hope is to spend the next year weighing the pros and cons of the motion and decide next year whether or not it should be made permanent.
